Anyone know a html, maybe javascript code to change the back button, to go back two steps instead of one?

Not a button on the page . . . The actual back button.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if something like that can be done...the back button is part of the browser interface which is usually hard-coded into the program itself.

Why would you need the button to do that?

Evelyn is right-on here. The back button and other features of a browser (such as address bar, refresh, search, etc.) cannot be modified. The only feature on my browser, at least in my experience, that I've seen modified without my permission, is my home page. I'm still puzzled as to how these sneaky sites do this -- I had thought that there would be a prompt before the home page is changed.

Anyway, there aren't such options primarily because of security issues...I mean, I know that I wouldn't like someone having the power to fiddle with my browser just by adding some HTML or JavaScript code to their site.

It would be complicated, but I think using a combination of either server-sided sessions or the javascript history and redirection you could simulate changing the behavior of the back button.

If you think it is worth the trouble, let me know what you specifically want to do and I'll help if I can.
