For lack of a better term I chose broke. I am tired. I was trying to fix the durn thing.

Poor Dave was on when it happened and had to listen to my moaning and groaning.

I still don't have a clue what happened but completely deleting my cgi-bin and making it again seemed to fix it.

Of course the cgi was a link tracker so I am having to manually enter 413 links at once now. Not fun.

Thank goodness it was the only one in there thanks to a new found love of PHP.

I would love to hear any thoughts on why a cgi-bin or script would just stop working properly. I hadn't touched it in months until after it quit working.

It also had been working just fine and dandy for 6-8 months with no problems.

Are you sure it was not the script itself within the cgi-bin that got currupted?

A cgi-bin does not do any processing, it just "holds" your scripts.

It could have been but I have no idea. I have never had anything like this ever happen before.

I tried reinstalling the scripts several times from the copies on my PC so I would not lose the database of links but no luck.

I still have more than 100 links to put back in the proper places. Easier to do than change all my advertising assuming I could find them all again LOL

The only thing that fixed it was deleting the cgi-bin and everything in it and starting over.

The sad truth is that privacy protection is going to break a lot of sites in the future as more and more software defaults their privacy protection measures on.

I'm working on an article on the topic, inspired by my experiences of joining the w3exit exchange... suddenly, I was able to answer the same sort of baffling questions, I just need to test and prove my theory before publishing it as I don't want it to be technically incorrect.

Off topic, but was this a good or bad experience with w3exit exchange? I look forward to the article.

Good in the sence they were helpful by letting me try a scripting solution to the problem of the site poping out of frames. Bad in the sense that I found no quick answer to the scripting problem (still need to play around to see if there is a workaround), and the fact I got the email with details I needed for the script just moments before it went down.

I tried to load the site in the frame to see how it behaved... emptied the cache and then I got the server errors! I hope I didn't bring down the site!
