Out of the three major Server-side languages,, what is your favorite. Perl - PHP - or ASP!

and /usr/sbin/perl

As for me, the last time I even got close to messing with perl was about 3 or 4 years ago. I got so frustrated being able to run scripts on one server, but not another, and hated seeing those annoying "premature end of script headers" errors.

Besides...the fact that it was easier for me to learn a (mostly) completely new language than to debug the one I already (thought I) knew, made all the difference to me.

When I swore I would never touch perl again...I didn't know anything about php. A friend suggested it because I kept grumbling to him about perl.

PHP all the way! Actually, ASP is great as well, but I'm hesitant to use Windows servers. Perl, as prissed has pointed out, is a nightmare -- it wasn't intended for the web and it shows.

I agree.
If you love c, c++ you should go with php cause it's like c and c++.
I'm going from php into c and c++ so I hope this makes things easyer.

I'd certainly go with PHP. Following messing about with Perl for a few years... argh! all the errors!... and my refusal to use Microsoft servers for web, I'm not left with much choice.

Although PHP is great, it's worrying that so many people now learn it as their first programming language. It really does teach terrible programming style... ah well

I personally like Perl. I have been in the programming scene for a year and like Perl because it also has other possibilities, Object orientated programming etc. and is not only for Web use!!
Easier is not always better in the long run!

I agree with scot,, Although I voted for PHP since I think its so easy lol

My first and only love is perl

And I think leaning perl FIRST is better then learning PHP first. Although many people say You should lean php first because its easier, but it teaches you bad skills.
