I just found out some great news
for designers who are not-allowed
to use cgi-script for FORM documents.

In the ACTION LINE, instead of using
a CGI-script, my web-host, Network
Solutions does NOT allow cgi-script,
perl or PHP, so I found an alternative
for the ACTION line to direct the
submit line below....YOU CAN USE
a mailto line and have it directed to
an E-mail account!!! This works GREAT
in this situation! The FORM is routed
to the E-mail account, and thus your
troubles are OVER!!!

Boy, is that a lousey web-host to ONLY
accept html and javascript??

Well what can you expect for a 5-page
templated website for $49.00!

No offense, put most people knew this. The reason that it's frowned upon is that some people's e-mails are web-based. This doesn't work for them, because the mailto link opens it in the default mail application (ie: outlook). If that person doesn't use "outlook" then this doesn't work for them, and just requires more effort on their part.

WaHoOoO!

Yes I tested it and I HATE outlook!!!

There has to be an action statement
to complete submit a form, that is
html/javascript based.

I tried the http://mail. method and
this is not the right way either. I
will talk to my brother who works as a
phone technician for SBC dsl. He has
designed webpages from scratch
using Microsoft Frontpage.

the name of my website is
www.savemoneytoo.com

the email is fapostol@savemoneytoo.com

I'm just lost because I cannot use cgi script, PHP, or perl...the website
is a template from Network Solutions
and ONLY allows html and javascript
editing within the BODY only. I had their engineers look at my html, all
they told me is that it's an ACTION
statement correction. Usually
ACTION statements point too a
servlet, and it starts with http.
Now below this you may find a input
statement with hidden in it.

Maybe someone can correct my code.
I have the basic code. Can I copy/paste it in this edit box to
show all???

The 'correct' code would be:
Code:
<form action="mailto:your@email.com">
but as WaHoOoO said, it's not a very good way of doing things for three reasons:
1. All browsers do not support this method
2. It relies on the user not using web-based e-mail, and instead using Outlook etc.
3. It reveals the user's e-mail address

Basically, the best way to do this if you can only use HTML and JavaScript is to use a remotely hosted service. These companies will deal with all the backend form processing for you, and you simply have some HTML to paste into your page.

Here's 38 to take a look at (some are free, some aren't):

Bravenet offer a good service, though:
