I have been asked by a team of artists to help them make a game. I don't have experience writing games (I don't really play them much either). I have no doubt that I can do it, but I'd like to make sure I'm going down the right path. The game will be:
2D - platform - rpg
and I'll either write it in C++ or Delphi.
Any advice on a good 2D engine?
Or should I build my own engine from scratch? (not likely)
Any other tips that will help? Like I said, I don't play many games, so I'll probably have to play a few to 'get into the minds' of other gamers.
If you were playing a game, what would you like to see? All the artists have a pretty good idea what direction the game will take, but I'd like to get input from others as well.
