Just a quick question...

First off - this board is awsome. I've already learned a ton just by browsing for a little while. Added about 15 sites to favorites.

Anyways, I would really like to do the classic ' 3 column' website. I would much prefer use 3 frames instead of a huge table with several inlying tables. When I break the page up...the 2nd frame which is the 'main' content frame has the scroll bar - this really breask up the site and does not look very good at all. What I really want is for the scroll bar to be to the far right and scroll all 3 frames at the same time. I dont want to limit the left and right columns content to only fit the initial view. I guess I just need to know if pages that are built this way are just huge tables *yucky*, or if they are PHP scripts pulling each little thing to the desired location.

Many Thanks,

MOTU

Thanks for the fast response.

That is something I feared. Through some serious trial and error I have become decent at building tables. I just do not know how to organize the tables in a way that I can easily edit/update content. Only thing I can think of is make an initial 'organizational' table and insert the actual content tables.

The site is for a game I'm developing - and I'm filling it with tons of content before I release it. So there are several links/sections that go into games aspects in more detail, and I'm going to need good navigation tools/design fromt he main page to make perusing the site a no-hassle experience. I am using some PHP scipts here and there....but it looks like I'll be hitting the 'tables' pretty hard.

Many Thanks,
MOTU

P.S. I'm really enjoying your site as well all kinds of neat stuff.

Ya - I noticed the avatar....it's supposed to be the default 'beetlejuice' avatar - I just assume my browser window was actiing up.

Anyways, Ya - It's just the idea of laying out the WHOLE site with tables that I'm not looking forward to. Just going to take some planning.

Thanks for all the help.

P.S. found a great TAG to help sites that have a graphical background.

in the <body> tag input - bgproperties="fixed" - this will make everything on top of the background scroll..

What about Iframes ? Was doing some looking...seems like alot of the page could be built up by Iframes. Anyone have any experience working with Iframes. I'd like a litte advice if it's not a good idea to build a site using them for whatever reasons...or if there are any aspects to avoid using them for anythinig other then layering.

Many Thanks,

MOTU

I've used IFrames a couple of times. They're useful for a few things, but I normally try to stay clear of them as most Internet Browsers have problems (IE is normally ok, however Netscape and Mozilla seem to have a few problems I find)
