I'm trying to insert a horizontal rule that will have the same color as the border color selected and will have the same thickness as the width of the border. Her's what I came up with, but it doesn't work.

You might try this.
<hr size=5 color="#0000ff">
Play with the size untill you get the size you want. Same with the color.
