I have the date taken form a mySQL db set in format: DD/MM/YYYY - (i.e. 17/02/2004), how can I display the day for that particular date (i.e Tuesday).

Assuming your date is a standard mySQL date, you can use the mySQL function DAYNAME(date)

DAYNAME('2002-12-01') would return 'Sunday'

Otherwise, convert your date to that format before using DAYNAME

If you are using perl, there are wonderful functions built into the Date.pm module, like str2time() or time2str() which do all the formatting for you.
