Hi

I am a newbie to Macromedia Flash. I have a simple question which should be easily answered.

I've not tried this yet, but if I were to create a flash movie with some text in it using the font 'Wicko' for example, and put it on the net, and YOU were to look at it, but didn't have the font 'Wicko' on your computer, would:

a) the font default to something like Arial

or

b) does Flash save the text as a vector drawing, so the font would look the same on your computer.

Thanxalot,

John

I think I know what you mean. Hmm. Well, I've tried using a strange font before and it seemed to have no problems. It's like when you use FireWorks and the text becomes a vector/image.

So you shouldn't have a prob really. It might be an idea though if you send the flash to someone you know who doesn't have that font and see if they have any problems.

ok thanks. I think I found the answer deep within Flash help topics. The answer is that you can tick or untick an option that either saves the text as a vector or saves the text as a particular font. The latter gives a smaller file size, but the first can be used for obscure fonts, which is what I want.

Flash also lets you carry the font outline with the flash file if you don't want to convert your text to vector graphics.

Using the font outline lets you use the font for dynamic text in your Flash movie while converting your text to vector means the text can't be changed to something else.
