hi
On my website Matix Web Design
The menu is bahaving strangely. The whole page is a table and each page is exactly the same, but for the content. When you change between pages with different amounts of text the menu bar dimensions seem to change. e.g. when you go from domain names to portfolio it changes. But when you change pages with the same contant the dimensions stay the same.
How can I fix the menu dimensions?
all help appreciated

You have specified the width of all your menu cells, however the combined width of all cells is 644 pixels. Your entire table width is 700 pixels. That leaves a discrepancy of 56 pixels.

Your (undefined) cell-spacing shows up at 2 pixels per cell in my browser (IE). So, the spacing between the cells of your menu bar equals 20 pixels. 20 pixels (spacing) + 644 pixels (cells) = 664 pixels, STILL leaving a discrepancy of 36 pixels. As a result the browser is expanding certain cells to take up the slack.

I'd suggest setting the very first cell (the date) to a width of 169 or greater and see if that helps.

If IE does need to stretch them, why wouldn't it stay the same for all of the pages?

Because IE begins rendering the page - even before all the source is downloaded. This means that it may intially render your table one way - then later down in the script it may have to destroy its previous render operation and redo everything. Sometimes this means different results for different pages - depending on the content.

Usually when I do menus of this sort I make all the cells the same width. However, in your instance this won't work. Try specifying the width for ALL your table cells - including the logo cell and the body cell. This may help.

sorted it. Set date cell width to 100% and put a spacer image in the rest of the nav cells.
