Ok so ive made myself a website

but im getting really pants download speeds off the server

so i figer that i might aswell have people download stuff straiight off my pc, as its on all the time anyways


now how do i go about setting that up, somone has told me to download bulletproof ftp, but this only seems to let me manage my original website.

any help please?

You can run a copy of Personal Web Server (google for more info on this) and then point all the downloads to your ip address like the following:

<A href="http://123.123.123.123/somefile.exe">Some File</A>

Where 123.123.123.123 is your public IP address.

This is a solution for a low traffic site, and you would want to ensure that you have set up a good security policy on your machine.

im havin a little trouble gettin it working can u give me a comple line


eg.

the file i want to be able to download is in the foloder

c:\downloadable\fish.exe



so i put

http://123.23.34.543/c:/downloadable/fish.exe

Have you tried buying one


Also running a web server or ftp might be in violation of your ISP's T&C's they would just cut you off
