perhaps a simple enough answer, but being that ive had no formal education on either Dreamweaver or Frontpage, im at a loss.
how do you set up a login section on your website??? i keep searching the lesson/tutorials of both programs and find nothing on it.

could someone *please* point me in the right direction??

(ive even gone as far as buying a " For Dummies" book on web design.)

if you happen to know of an online 'walk through' at all, please let me know and i wont bug you for your time.

thanks,
Greg

what's your problem? just make a simple form with two text fields and 'submit' button. on clicking on 'submit' it will transfer info to your script, that should chaeck name and password etc.

You don't exactly need formal qualifications to use dreamweaver, but I think I know what you mean.

I would start off by going to www.php.net and read up on sessions. then get myself to www.webmonkey.com to look at some of the PHP scripts there (http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/...tw=programming). and then I would do a few test scripts to understand the neccessary scripting.

Well, that's just me. But I would use PHP to script. There are plenty of Javascripts out there (www.javascriptsource.com) which will give you a not-so-secure login. I know that there's one there that encrypts the password. It's only for one person though. (there are no multi-user/password functions).

You could do an .htaccess or .htpasswd version.

This is true Wahooo! but I belivie is asking for a membership sysem for the public...
And we all know .htaccess would suck for that...
You would have to manualy input every user and still have to have that sign up form anyway...
Bleh yea...

But maybe I am mistookin and he wants just an admin membership section.
Meh...
