I have a client which offers support and external back-ups for his customers, but he needs an easy way of the customers to tell him their IP Address, hence he wants somthing on his website to tell them what thier IP address is.

However, he does not want to spend money on PHP, MySQL or ASP.NET so Does anyone know of any good, and cheap, IP address displayers for a website which can be displayed within the site?

He is with fasthosts, but they stick a monthly fee for using MySQL etc.. something like £20.

Also he needs it done pretty quick as he is going away in a few days so i need something quite simple on my behalf so i can get it done.

Personally, i thought that was just a way of showing IP's in forms etc, but i've found a way of managing it using SSI - i forgot about a doc write initally.

Code:
    <script>

var IPAddress = '<!--#echo var="REMOTE_ADDR"-->';

document.write(" Your IP is: "+IPAddress+"");

</script>
Thanks again, vicky

What the code you have finalised does, is to insert a SSI variable in a javascript variable, then display the variable using javascript.

Just be aware that anyone visiting your site with javascript disabled won't see the IP.

My Client manages all his customers networks and systems so that is not a problem. - and he is only going to be using it for his customers who have contacts with him so that they can tell him thier IP address.

By Default javascript is turned on in IE.

Your client is a n00b. You can just put
PHP Code:
<?php
echo $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];

// This Would give you:
// 81.123.1.2.3
?>
And you get the IP.
