Hi All
A client wants to have a link to a MP3-file. Well I added it with an ordinary link. As the file is 1 MB it takes some time to download it.
He says there must be a way it can be downloaded in the background or downloaded faster
Anybody can help me with that one?
Thanks,
Dee

1 MB should download at lightning speed, unless your client is Amish, and uses dial-up.

The only way you're going to be able to make the file download more quickly from the server side is to make it smaller, by removing information from it.

Download speed of any file is dependent on two factors, the connection the server has to the internet and the connection the user has to the internet. If either one of these is slow, file transfer will be slow.

Perhaps though, your client is maybe thinking of streaming the audio from the page rather than linking to it. In this way the playing starts before the file is completely finished downloading and thus gives the illusion of downloading faster.

Get the player there:
http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/

and read it's documetnation to install it on the server.
The link to the file can be independant, and this software will allow your client to stream the mp3 from the server without having the users to fully download it before.

Well you learn something new every day! Looks like it isn't just big sites like YouTube that can stream media.

The documentation states that there is an auto_play option. So I'd think it would be customisable.
I never used this flash script, just searched for it on google.
