Can someone tell me how you display a list of files in a folder?

Example: when users create an account on my site, they are automatically given a web page in a file ...public_html/profiles/username.html

I would like to know how I can display the list of users' files in another html page so that other users can see them and view their page.

Can this be done for html, javascript, or any code that will allow me to display it on an html page?
