I have been searching, unsuccessfully for a script that will allow users to search profiles, much like you see on MySpace and any matchmaker sites. I have found scripts for sale that include what I need, but I do not want to purchase an entire community script when all I need is a website search script. Basically what I need it to do is the following:

User option for search Not to include any text, rather check boxes or dropdown menus for selections.

Once all selections are made the user clicks search...

All profiles fitting the user's selections are provided on the output page. I would prefer there to be an option for only so many returns per page, with a max limit on page returns.

If anyone knows of such a script (I'm fairly certain its common, but after hours on the computer I've failed to find it) please please let me know.

Thanks for reading

Maybe I am misunderstanding you, but it looks like you'll need a custom job to attach to your database so it can search for the data & return the results unless you're using a publicly available script, then there might be an addon or module available.

Initially I would have thought you were looking for a search script that parses all the html files and matches text, but since you state 'much like you see on MySpace and any matchmaker sites' then I would have to assume that you're looking for a database driven solution.

You could probably hire a coder to do this somewhat cheap (less than $200, much less if you go to a freelance website), it's not terribly difficult to write a half way decent search script.
