...when I try to open a large setup file (more specifically - America's Army setup). I don't know why it does it, it didn't used to for large setup file that I downloaded off the internet.

I don't think anything's changed, but I know it's a problem with the computer because I tried a couple of other setups and they are doing the same thing. When I try to open it from the desktop, the desktop freezes. The rest of the computer works fine. I can start programs from the start menu and they will run like there's nothing going on the background.

Has anyone had anything like this happen to them?

Yes, well almost every little thing I use to do in Vista would freeze... the only thing I could do is work with it slowly... if it was working fine a few day/months ago... then Format C: e install the OS again :|

Because vista is so advnaced and graphically intensive you need a good graphics card and ram, vista is designed to burden all the graphics to the graphics card, but it does still need a little but more ran to run,

get another ram stick and it will probably fix this issure and get you running faster.

Dan, it's true. Macs do work, Windows generally doesn't. I've used numerous Windows systems up till I got my Mac and I can say that it is head and shoulders better than them.

While i would agree for standard users they appear better i am just sick of Mac users going on about how fantastic they are.

Macs have their share of errors, bugs problems glitches and freezes.

which if you have a good look on youtube theres loads of mac users moaning and smashing the Mac and buying PC hehe

There may be a few trickling away, but the statistics speak for themselves - Macs are growing at an incredibly fast rate simply because they are adapting and becoming increasingly compatible with Windows - Bootcamp coming with 10.5 being a classic example of this.

There are millions of Windows users just itching to throw their computers/pieces of junk out of their GLASS windows - that speaks for itself (Windows is an appropriate name I must say )

I really dont want to start this...

did i tell you i have a really bad self controll...

The REALLY funny/ironic thing is tho, when Mac change to be more windows compatibile and act more like windows its a good thing, they are getting better.

When WINDOWS takes on alot of mac aspects (in vista) and adapt to be more like Macs to also apeal to their user base.

They are stealing their ideas.

is just me that sees this?

Yes it is you - imagining this!

Mac doesn't steal their ideas - we are becoming more compatible with Windows things, such as hardware and possibly software. That's not stealing ideas - that's just using common sense.

Did I mention that when I get into a heated conversation/discussion, I have poor self control too

But you could easily apply that to what microsoft does but there have still been loads of mac huggers moaning they nicked idea...

where as you could look at it as Microsoft saw how people like the Mac interface so common sense dictats the make their GUI nice and pretty.

i love vista but one thing i have learned is if you dont want it to freeze and to run pretty fast, you need a LOT of memory. it recommends 1024mb of memory just to run vista, let alone additional applications. i currently have 4gb and mine runs perfectly. never freezes, tis very fast.

Completly Agree!

It ran with out any problems for me on 1024 im only on a 1.5GB now but i have yet to have problems.

I can see why people moan about sys resources useage. when you look at how the computer which took them to the moon had less than a REALLY old mobile phone you can see how much things have advanced.

I think the reason people have moaned and groan is because where vista is completely differant it made a jump (as i am sure XP did when it came out) which all the XP users just wasnt used to but to get all the extras it needs the better graphics and more memory.

But i find what extra it uses often other programs run a hell of alot faster...

i really am honestly amazed with it. i honestly expected to be deleteing it off my system within a week of installing it but i havent (well i ahev becaus the partition wasnt big enough but anyway..)

Ouch, that amount of time to install really sounds to me like your PC can't handle vista very well.

What score does it get in the Vista Rating?
