Hey everyone, decided to switch over to MS Office Outlook (2007) instead of Windows Mail/Outlook Express yesterday. Now I set it up in exactly the same way Windows Mail was configured.. gave a name, the e-mail address, pop3 and smtp server address (which are both the same) plus the password and finally set outgoing mail to autehnticate.

But here's the problem - I cannot send or receive e-mails yet either program claims they have been sent, and I'm using hotmail to send test emails. At the moment I'm stumped because I've tried everything I can think of in Outlook, there's nothing wrong with my firewall or router. The only other possible cause could be the server, possibly the DNS records (although nothing major has been changed).

So if anyone's kind enough to do so... an idea what the hell I'm doing wrong!?

That's certainly one option, however it doesn't exacty fix my e-mail account problem. Doesn't matter in any case as the server is being looked at right now to determine what's going wrong.

Have you tried using an IP address that's associated with the mail server instead of its subdomain name (e.g. 128.204.95.63 instead of pop3.domain.com)?

Well the server ended up having to be rebooted, so I'm not exactly sure what cause the e-mail to go down. My suspisions still lie within the DNS settings perhaps, thanks for the advice anyways guys problem sorta fixed itself in the end!
