I personally use truecrypt [ http://www.truecrypt.org/ ] which allows you to encrypt a disk partition (but from scratch, I believe. If you have datas on it, you might loose them) which have the big advantage as being crossplatform.
I could encrypt my usb key with sensitive files, and only when I enter my passkey can I retrieve the files.
It can also create a file which will act like a container, in which you can store the files you want to crypt.
