i usually get 2 mins or more from my machine. i really missed the xp bootup times where it only takes less than a minute to get started. how about you? how much does it take to get to your desktop?

jimmychen, what is your PC config? I think that you need to reconsider using Vist. It needs lots of sources on your PC

My system takes 45 sec to boot vista... boot time can be vary because of startup software you have. If you are using a bulky antivirus then your computer may take longer to boot. try to reduce startup programs to enhance your pc performance

try configuring your boot sequence using msconfig....

lol not sure what mine is but i know i need to clean my configs again.

Admittedly i have just been hibernating/resuming for the past monthish on the trot! so i havnt actually shut down/restarted for ages lol

I don't shut down very often either, but when I do, my Vista Ultimate starts 20 times faster than my XP Pro on the other computer.

lol, I remember one time my pc was sluggish starting, was like 2-3 minutes before login screen loaded and even logger to login, i went throught cleared out all the rubbish from my boot up etc and cleaned reg and sorted the rubbish out, and it was booted to login screen in 20 seconds and logged on and ready to use in under a minute...
