Picture 006.jpg <-- front of case taking air out

also there is the fan from the power supply and the one for the cpu(highspeed and designed for the cpu)

i have just brought some greese/paste for the cpu as there was none (woopsy) but still it hasnt done this before

its reaching temps of 84 before it shuts off and that is only when i see videos

I'd say:
1) Go get quality heat conducting paste (I hope you have not buyed the first price. You could put butter, it would have the same effect)
2) de-solidarize the cpu ventirad of the cpu (when the comp is off, of course)
3) cleanup the old paste from the CPU !!!this is really important. the cleaner the surface, the better
4) Put just a really thin paste layer. Too much, and it will have the opposite effect
5) put back the ventirad.

If you have a "out of the box" ventirad on your CPU, get something real. I have used arctic cooling ventirad for the last 4 computer I've assembled, and they are great for the money.

Once, doing this with an old Athlon CPU have let it go down to ~70°c (85°C before)
Now, it depends of your CPU too. P4 and Athlon XP tends to get quit hot.

Core2 and recent Athlon are much lower in their power consuption, and stay much cooler.
My core2 cpu core are running at 35°c and 39°c right now (Idle).

Might not help you but I will share my experience. After 18 months of rock solid performance I developed an over-heating issue.

As I was brushing the fins of the cpu heat sink with a soft bristled toothbrush I noticed it wobbling a bit. Two of the retaining clips had worked loose from the MB holes so the heatsink was not in firm contact with the cpu.

I removed the fan and heatsink straightened the little clips and reinstalled it. Seems to be as stable as ever for over a week now.

yes, you could just have improperly clamped the coolers. This can be evident when your temps get to insane levels even in just normal usage.

Rule of the thumb is, if you touch the heatsink, it must be warm.
If your hand gets nearly burned when touching it, it is really overheating.

I have to admit i was half expecting a dust coverd pc but from the pics it looks pretty clean, okay first off the obvious things:

Make sure pc is rasied off the floor, clean it regularly.

Ensure you have followed their advice and have your heat sync sorted properly.

Also, you may be able to tweak the fan speed (using special programs) to speed it up a little which should reduce temp.

If this problem has only started recently, and is getting worse, maybe your CPU is dying?

Hope this helps

Dan

yep...putting lots of fan won't help you if your heat sink isn't installed properly...you will just waste money...but fan doesn't cost allot..hehe

if your computer has been running fine and then developed this problem, its likely to be a build up of dust as suggested by others ^.

Clean out all the dust from your system especially any that is on the fan for your heatsink.

Alos Cleaning the old thermal compound from your CPU/Heatsink and reapplying should help considerably.

There must be a virus in your computer... try to clean it out... backup you data first and then format your whole hard drive and reinstall windows and install a good antivirus on it.. update the defination file and then copy back your data... before copying data try to run video again...and see if the CPU is heating again or not?

Erm No. Dont.

Its virtually impossible for a virus to do that, and not make your computer so slow you cant move the cursor..

Dont..
