Dells are good. HPs are right behind them. Toshibas seem a little low quality to me, kind of like madeinchina products.

Ill put it this way a customer computer is the very best top of the line you can do. I f your not going to build your own you might as well go with the next namewise best which would be dell.

So unless your building your own. Look like Dude your getting a dell !!

For one thing never and I mean never purchase from Dell. For servers and business, they are ok. But for home and residential they are terrible! The tech support is out-sourced in the middle east and even if you are under warranty they won't fix the computer. My dell had a broken Ram stick (Only had it for 12 days) and it was still under warranty obviously. They refused to send me a new ram stick, so I got pissed of and went and bought one. I got lots of people that work with me to not buy from Dell because of my experience.

So for a best brand. I would go with HP because my old laptop is 5 years old and has not broken down yet. Then I bought a new laptop and it is working like a charm. Only thing I hate is all of the trial software and crappy games they shove into it.

And if you truely want a powerful and reliable computer, custom built is the way to go!

HP and dell is the best as far as I'm concern. Hp have a good lcd resolution and dell is reliable. I also like their customer service

They are all good brands. As far as I'm concerned I have a Packard Bell. I would be able to build my own computer but I can't do that.

First of all tell me whether you want to buy Notebook PC or Desktop Computer system. Notebook is best if you want portability but desktop pc has much efficiency rather than Laptop. If you want to buy Desktop PC and have already enough knowledge about OS, You should bu Apple Desktop. Before making payment, please be satisfied from configuration.

Toshiba in my opinion. I had an HP notebook that died from over heating. The motherboard burnt out or some crap like that. Dell... they have reaaally bad customer service.

It is an odd question. All mainstream-styled PCs are just box of cheap parts made by other companies. The difference between Dell/Gateway/whatever, and a computer box which you put together yourself, is that your homemade computer will be built of better parts. Not because you look for better parts, but because these companies go to great lengths to save money, they use shortcuts that no one would deliberately put in their own computer, that you don't even see for sale from parts sellers. All the money goes into the plastic on the outside, the colorful stickers and so on.

In other words, there is no best-brand PC in the mainstream price slot, they are all junk by design.

I say Toshiba, but watch out for Dell and IBM clones. At this point you have to have some replacement plan or service plan, the hardware is too kludgy and pieced together from OEMs anyway. Make sure you know all the waaranty info and can et at it when your computer is down.

I'm using Dell..and hope to upgrade my laptop next year.

Dont get Sony. You cant downgrade most of their laptops from vista to XP. spent over 34 minutes on the phone with a sony rep and they were of no help.

the best computer brand according to my experience would be

1. Apple (laptps)
2. Custom Made Computer (desktop)

Sony have amazing laptops

I think you must go for a better specs, because all brand you mentioned are all good..
