On the desktop side, you don't have much advantages now. Because like when we passed from 16 to 32 bits, an application has to be developed to use those functionality.
The most noticeable difference will be the max RAM available to a system.
A 32 bits system is limited to a bit less than 4GO. Put more in the computer, and it won't be used.
Because you are limited to 8^32 bits of addressable memory addresses.
What will change too is that the amount of information that can be computed simultaneously will increase. Basically, you double the width of your processing pipes, so theoretically, 2 times more datas will be able to be processed in 1 CPU cycle.
