Well I have had my computer for just around 4 years now, I activated it when I got it, earlier I was on my computer and I left and turned off my monitor, my kid pressed the close down button on my computer tower so I turn my computer back on again and it comes up that I need to activate windows. When it already is activated, my wallpaper is in the background, but whatever I do it keeps on telling me to enter an activation key, and I know that it is supposed to be on top of my monitor the label with the key, but my kid ripped that label off a long time ago.


Basically there was no problems and when I turn my comp back on it tells me I need to activate windows.

I guess you should call MS with phone activation if you're sure it's legit.

did you reformat your pc?I guess there's a problem with reformatting your pc..anyway you need to call the tech support though..

if your windows is original you could get an activation key buy calling windows or sending it in the internet to report it..

Try running, malwarebytes or any other spyware removal tool. I can't see how Windows is asking you for activation again and if it is set on your wallpaper, it is definitely a spyware.

Calling MS is the best option. When trying to activate they will give you a number to call. You can do this assisted or in your case you might need to talk to someone who can help.

First of all call MS for help... there should be some way to activate your xp if it is legal.

Well I was going to suggest to call MS, for me a format worked but remember backup your data but remember a format only worked for me it may not work for you, so if in doubt take it to your nearest pc store.
