Hello,

I've been looking at purchasing a portable external harddrive. My business is picking up and I'm looking at going out of town once every 2 or 3 months and I need something to back up files and such. I have external harddrives but, I really don't want to carry them around and it's nice not having to worry about finding an outlet for them. I've been looking at ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136227 ) I really only purchase Western Digital harddrives. If you know of any good portable external harddrives please let me know. Money is really not an issue I dont want to spend more then $150.00. Also, I would want something atleast 250 GB. Thanks for your time.

These drives are very good. I have quite a bit of them, and use them for client server backups. They're great because no AC is required, and the enclosures are well constructed. Just a word of caution. You will need to use the USB cable that comes with it. Alhtough it's very short, it uses good conductors. I find that if I use long USB cables, or USB cables that are thin and very flexible, the drives don't spin up, or don't recieve sufficient voltage for the OS to recognize them.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. I ended up going to Best Buy today I got a 250GB Portable External on sale for $99.99 and so far I'm very happy with it. I'm traveling to Ohio this Sunday and it will be nice to have an external and not have to worry about finding an outlet.
