I found a virus on my usb drive when i used it on another computer.how can i remove it without infecting my own computer? i think the virus is siivchost.exe.. im not sure of the virus name because im really scared to open my usb because it might infect my computer and do a reformat on my computer. i need the files on my usb.

Im afraid.. because what my computer does an autoplay every time a usb is inserted. and i need to get some files on my usb.

it's a harddrive, just like any other
you can disable the autoplay if that's what's worrying you.. do you have any anti-virus on your machine?

I have an AVG 8 installed in my computer.. I will try to disable the autoplay now found in the control panel, right?

just make sure that your anti virus is updated... dont be scared that is just a simple virus..you can even manually remove it you can download hijackthis.

Format it - just skip autorun once you run USB. I have had the same. My antivirus do not believe that was virus and on other PC yes.

Just don't try to double click while opening the usb if you want to see your files so that the virus will not harm your local disk. Better to use right click if you want to open your files.

Format your USB, or simply install AVG free on your computer... after updating your AV plug your usb and remove the virus

ohhh... You don't have any back-up files in your Personal Computer? The Best way is to Format your USB... if you have a back-up files.... But if not.. try to scan your PC... and USB...

just disable autoplay and then open your usb drive from run you can start run from start menu then type the letter of your usb drive e.g i have 18 partitions on my computer so my usb address is q so i type in q:/ and then open it and scan it through avg hope it will solve your problem
