Hello guys,

I've got this virus from my msn, it only effects my contacts so far but yet I'm not sure if it's a spyware or even a keylogger. I've checked many internet sites but I still cannot find a solution to my problem.

The virus looks something like this:

"This would look great as you wallpaper!"

Then comes a file called

"picture_922.rar" (different numbers everytime)

Inside the "rar" file, there is a MD-MOS file. I have deleted the file but yet I still have the virus, if you know a solution to this can you please reply.

Thanks,
ZHooU

Install some antivirus software and NEVER, EVER open files you are not expecting.

it auto sends itself to his contacts, in the same form that he received it. I've had couple of friends with the virus on my list - it's gets very annoying after awhile.

I really don't know what else it's doing. It's likely that it might be some gateway for other viruses, like a trojan.

Hello,

I'm sorry but I have a really hard time believing MSN gave you a virus. I've been using MSN for YEARS! like 8+ years and I've never had an issue with my computer that was MSN related.

belive me, it's real, i see it all the time...
i think there have been about 4 or 5 different MSN viruses that i've seen till now, each one with a different kind of msg, but allways offering you some kind of file or link to some site... if u click on it, you're toasted, you start uknowingly sending the same crap to your contacts... the virus usually floats around the web for a couple weeks, then dissapears. one thing is funny thou, if u write back to the contact right after he was trying to send you the file, he never gets your message.

i however havent had the "pleasure" of getting the virus myself, even thou i accidentaly clicked on the link acouple of times. i didn't get it because... (and i'm getting tired of myself telling people this) ...i use linux (Ubuntu)

Why couldn't you believe that? Messenger systems are perfect ways to send viruses to people, people who don't think before they open unknown files, but lots of people none the less.
