Hi about a year ago i recieved a freeagent seagate as a gift for christmas. It didnt work at all in the first 2 weeks so i got it swapped. It worked fine after that. Now a year on i stood up and my leg got caught in the wire. It feel off my desk (about 1-2ft) and now it wont respond. the light is on and its kind of buzzing but nothings happening

If the data is real important a computer place can probably try to get the data transfered onto a new drive. It is more likely that something with the external system broke than the drive itself actually damaging.

I got a great solution, if you haven't already thrown it out...Bring it to the local repair shop, they're usually pretty good, but quite expensive as compared to the bigger guys.

get it replaced again....or if you feel savvy enough, tear it apart and make sure the connectors didnt come undone

if the data is really important go to a data recovery place.
if not, buy a new drive and be more careful with it next time
