I just bought a Rocketfish 700w power supply for 44 including shipping on ebay for my computer because my current cant support a better graphics card. I wanted to know if my specs new specs would be able to support it. So please leave feedback and suggestions.


Current specs
Pc chips P53g mobo(please don't laugh)
Core 2Quad at 2.4ghz
2x 2gb 667 RAM
1x320gb Sata
1x Ati x1650 Pro 512mb
1x 18x DVD burner
3x Case fans
2x Cold Cathode
Okia 500w Power supply

New Specs
Asus P5Q-vm (micro atx)
Core 2Quad at 2.4ghz
2x 2gb 1066 OC
1x320gb Sata
1x Nvidia 260 core 216 896mb
1x 18x DVD burner
3x Case fans
2x Cold Cathode
Rocketfish 700w Power supply

Btw, i'm just curious, how d'you know your current 500w ps cant support a better graphic card?

The Asus site will tell you how much power you need.

Personally I think you are fine if the one you bought can deliver consistent. Consistent is usually better than bigger.

It most likely can just that from what I have heard its better to have a buffer zone with your power supply instead of just overloading it.

Some the newer high end ones are power pigs. Geez they even need their own cooling system.

i had 2 8800GTX cards, SLId, and a Q9450 quad core. An 800w PSU was not enough! Had to get 1kw.... just because of the graphics cards, which take about 20amps each and need TWO dedicated power supplies EACH
