I pinged my client's url to get the ip '62.69.64.129'. Does that mean I should be able to set that as the host in FileZilla along with the required username and password in order to connect?

Because the status just seems to stay at 'connecting' when I try to connect to it. Even when I try the client's domain name I still have the same problem!

Some hosts use a diffrent port number than the standard one (21) for security reasons.

Hmmm do you know of a way that I can find out which port to use? Or would the only way be to contact the hosting company through the client?

Ok once you disable the windows fire wall and try it.. if its not conneting again you can disable / enable the spyware if you have installed..or check with some other ISP provider and try to ping through it some time for security reasons the from the ISP the block the ports...Is your client is using dedicated IP to the site?? or check the DNS entries are pinging fine or not..!

If you are able to ping the 'host ip' you should be able to connect via FTP.

Q1: Are you on wireless? If so, check to make sure the signal is strong.
Q2: Are you using passive? If not, try that...

Good Luck!

If you supplied the correct configuration( username, password, ip and settings for filezilla to connect) and still got some errors then it may be the fault of your client.
