lol I'm just curious may I know what specs your using? I think memory there is the culprit in slowing down your vista. 4gb of DDR2 is a highly recommended one

890Mb of RAM? LOL!!!!!!!!

I have a laptop running Vista and it has 3GB of RAM. After the initial boot is done, it's super fast. Comparable to XP.

U need more RAM. At least 2GB in my opinion.

Vista is a piece of crap, first go to your msconfig and try to disable anything you might need. My advice is to go back to win xp, all the bugs are taking care. Good luck

Here's how:
first just adjust Vista's UAC. Then ease up Vista's Aero Transparency feature.Next is Adjust Advanced Settings. Similarly, other resource-intensive features can be toned down in order to free up Vista resources and speed up your system.

Turn off Unneeded Features and Services. This can really help speed your start-up (boot) time.

I would only recommend changing the operating system to 7 or XP or getting a better computer

Increase your RAM to 1GB-1.2 GB or uninstall VISTA

If your Vista is starting up slow you might want to check out your MSCONFIG. In there you can disable the start up programs.
