Like most web developers , I recently installed FF 3.5. To my great discomfort, I soon learned that the browser has a new feature (bug) that allows you to "tear away" a tab to form a new window. Although this does make sense in principal, I have found that it is entirely too easy to do this by accident, which has caused me endless frustration and yelling at the computer.

I have been rather upset that Firefox doesn't allow this feature to be disabled. Fortunately, I'm not the only one who noticed this, and some kind soul made a plugin which allows just this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12276 (the plugin has a fitting name, bug489729)... lol... hopefully it will be patched soon.

Interesting. Sure the best thing about Firefox is its addon power. Also, there are a number of features that offer some interesting functionality: for instance, I've recently found out that it is possible to open a fresh tab out of the address bar of an old one without closing the old one - good to know, but I'm not sure I would find any reasons to use it.

I have updated to the 3.5 as well. No problems so far. But I'm sure with the next updates all bugs will be fixed

just for those that DIDN'T actually READ the original post. but just reply "because"!!!

It is NOT a "bug" that affects the general use of FF3.5. It is a design feature that can be activated/triggered by an inadvertant mouse action.

I think that feature is pretty great.

How do you manage to move the tabs to a new window accidentally so often that it annoys you?

It's just the manner in which I use the browser. I keep a very large amount of tabs open at one time, and move between them very quickly. Something about the way FF calculates when a drag has occurred is a bit off, because just the act of moving between the tabs very quickly, as I do, can cause a tab to suddenly tear away unpredictably.

I like the version of firefox 3.5, I didn't get any trouble about this site. But sometimes we need to be careful on what we clicking even though we say it just an accidentally clicking.

Thanks for showing me that. That "feature" has been making me so mad and I honestly thought it had something to do with my computer (my laptop has been acting up recently). Now, if I could get FF to quit closing tabs on its own, I'll be great!

that right, it's so easy the tab teared away, and open in new windows accidentally. It will cause CPU more busy than before. I will review the add-on, if it's good, I will install it. Thanks bro
