How to back up drivers?

keep the disc that came with the hardware.

Create copy of that CD in safe place or you can also Keep the backup on your hard disk.

It would be very nice idea.

If you have an internet connection than I think almost every driver is available on the net. Or you can save your every driver in a folder on your harddrive.

Ditto that... I dont think I've ever used the drivers on a disk. Half of the time there is 10 ton of junk crap that gets installed when you run an exe from a disk from like a video card or sound card and what not. Just go to the manufactures web site. If its like sata drivers for xp on a newer machine, just use nlite to package all the drivers you need into the OS on a disk.

Well, I never back up drivers. I found all of them on the manufacture's website. It does not matter what it is. If it is a brand PC, it is easier to find drivers, and if it is a generic PC, just a little bit harder but check the chips and go to the manufacturer website. That's why mainly I don't back up drivers.

I think it is not possible to backup drivers once installed in your pc (backup the driver files). the only way is to download from internet and backup or keep your orig. cd.

you know what , from 4 years i have pc all time when i format i think of copying drivers on my harddisk so that will save time another time but i didnt do that . Now i have done that so that makes me so relex....... do that , you getting backup also.

Use DoubleDriver software that backing up the driver which U using now and restore as U like it is FREE from websites

I just try to keep a complete system backup at all times and restore that. It will have all drivers and programs on that backup so I don't have to re-install. Do it once and forget about having to do it again.

Otherwise, to backup your drivers, you should already have a cd for each hardware device in your system, including on-board devices. If you don't, you have to do the dirty work of having to find them online, oh, I used to hate having to do that.

I would recommend DriverGrabber for this purpose. It is a freeware while powerful enough in backing up your 3rd part drivers.

I have seen many people that they keep their back up in the external drives like D; E etc. but they don't realize that their back up can be affected by virus there and they can loose it too. So, I suggest it to copy all your back up in CD / DVD.

If you need any particular driver that you dont have go to the vendor's site then support or download section. There you will find device name & model. Fill up them and download your driver.

First, you should know that there are no guarantees. I've yet to find a technique that always gets every file needed by every driver. But I can recommend two approaches, either of which will get the vast majority and quite likely all of them. As an extra precaution, you might use both.The first is driverback.bat, a batch file I wrote when I last answered this question in 2005 (if that link brings you to a web page of text rather than a file download dialog box, copy and paste that text into Notepad and save it as driverback.bat). This makes for an extremely easy backup and a reasonably easy restore, although it backs up far more files than you're likely to need. Another problem: It doesn't work in Vista--one more reason why I'm giving an alternative solution.

I bought some bluetooth device for my PC and lost original drivers on disc... I never found drivers for that kind of BT device so I doubt that you'll find them. Try on manufacturer homepage.
