Any low-priced router is good for home. I am using TP-Link TL-WR841ND. There are so many others like Dlink, belkin, linksys.

Most of cheap (low-end) wifi routers do the same thing and I don't think they are very different. So go with any brand you prefer and it should be OK. Unless you need some really advanced features (but then you should look for expensive routers)

Linksys is a good router. I never had any problems with it. Then use a WPA2 security for a more secured connection.

I use a Linksys WRT-600N and it works great. I have used it in Windows and Linux. Has a descent signal too!

Here's a link to it, but I didn't buy it here, just shows what it looks like:

I still believe ASUS is better than LinkSys. I have never experience any troubles with ASUS products (laptops, video cards, motherboards, routers...)

D-Link and Linksys are 2 good brands for Wi-Fi routers, and you can set them up easily with any security login options. The WRT-600N model of Linksys works pretty well and has WEP, WPA, WPA2 security options, with ethernet port and works with any Windows OS version like XP, Vista and Win 2000.

You just need a network adapter and that's it. It comes with the installation CD and everything is easy to setup.
Try for D-Link routers too if you have any other specifications that don't come in Linksys Wi-Fi routers.
