So I screwed something up in my computers registry. Now I can't get back into the reg and this error I made also does not allow me to install anything.

Question: If I get a reboot CD from my computers manufacturer and restore it to like it was new will it fix this, or do I need to install the whole OS again?

Try the "repair" option when you boot from an OS disk, if that fails, reinstall is the only option.

Oops!

Did you not make a set of discs when you first fired up the machine?

I was young and naive. I was under the impression that my computer was too awesome and invincible.

No set of discs.

As long as you have the product key you should be able to obtain the discs from your supplier.

you can try opening your windows in safe mood & creating new user. sometimes doing that fixes problem. or if you have backup of your registry replace your registry with previous one.
