Revised website appearing as old one on my computer!

I published a website a long time ago using the server space provided at our local telephone company. I never had any problems updating it and viewing it on my home computer. When I made changes to the site, I saw them immediately upon publication of the site.

I have since switched to another hosting provider. Whenever I publish the changes for this one site, I cannot see them on my home computer. However, everyone else sees the newly revised site on their computers (not at my home). My other site, where I have always used this "new" hosting provider, does not have this problem. When I update it, I automatically see the changes published to the Internet.

I have tried to clear my Internet browsing options (files, cookies, etc.), but that has not worked. I would have thought it had to do with the server except that my other site that I have always had at this "new" server updates as it is supposed to and I can see it at home, as I said. Therefore, I am guessing it is a setting on my computer at home that I need to change. However, all three computers (2 laptops and a desktop) view it in this way at home (not able to see the published changes). Do you think I need to contact the original host and see if they still have some connection to this site? Does that even make sense? Why do computers not at my home see the updated site?

I know this sounds very confusing, I'm confused, and I hope someone can help me resolve this mystery! Thanks!

Are you using AOL as your ISP?

Because it sounds like you are connecting via a proxy server and you are viewing the cache rather than the live site.

It can be that your ISP is using what is called a "transparent proxy".
It means that they use a proxy internally, and redirect all the traffic they have through that proxy.

Ask your isp support if they do use one, and if yes, if they can put your site on a black list, to avoid this situation.

I definitely agree that I am viewing the cached site. I do not use AOL. My ISP is that same local telephone company that also used to be the website's host. Thanks for the two responses. I guess I will have to just ask my ISP then, unless you two or anyone else have any other ideas.

I ran in the same issue some years ago, and it was this transparent proxy that was causing the issue.

What you can do, but it's really sub optimal, is to add a random hash to each links, that will trick the proxy in believing the page is not the same than the last time, but it's not easily done.

You can check vis some anonymous proxy if it is showing the right version of your web site.

When I use MegaProxy, it does show the correct version of my website. It just doesn't show it through the regular browser. I have an e-mail into the ISP regarding this concern.
