put the CD in start the machine.
Press the {any key} when it asks you to.
Follow the STEP BY STEP on screen instructions.
Re-install your applications.

There's no need to format in advance. Just stick the CD in, delete the current partition(s), and create a new one in the unallocated space.
The setup will ask you if you'd like to do a quick or full format. Quick is fine.

I think a fdisk might be more useful than format if you confirm there are some virus there on the hard disk.
I think a fdisk might be more useful than format if you confirm there are some virus there on the hard disk.
Fdisk is used to format whole hard disk. whatever you can install new fresh windows without formating your drive. But as virus got you it is better you format you C drive. you will find it after booting your xp cd.
