According to me for personal use Intel celeron is enough. But if anyone want to do some professional work and play some games I would recommend Dual core or higher ranked processor.

Did anyone used ADM processor instead of Intel processor? I used one got nice performance except it did not allowed me to install Partition magic software.

What according to u is the best processor?

I think intel processor use for data and AMD use for all of. like Data, Entertainment, mostly use for Games. I prefer AMD processor is the best for you.

It doesn't matter that kind of use you have for your PC, but I always recommend either a Core 2 Duo, Core2Quad or an i5/i7 Processor... Forget AMD, they're useless..

First to do is to know what would be the purpose of your system before selecting the best processor that would fit with your purpose. If your purpose for your system is to use for a good gaming experience and not too much on those application software to be used, its better if you used AMD processor and if your purpose is to have a lot of application to be worked fine as well to have somehow a good game experience, Intel processor will be the one that fits for your system.

Go for anything you want but don't buy celeron. My experience with celeron is not good. You can use core 2 due which will work for most home use task including some graphic games.

Don't go for Celeron although you can chose higher speed but still it has slow processing capability. Celeron is best for only office applications or some low memory consumption apps such as Photoshop CS2 or Flash Professional 2004... something like that.

I would recommend AMD processor. its performance is better than Intel. you can overclock the processor according to your needs. Intel processors its not possible. AMD is cheaper than Intel. So you can invest those savings to other parts of the system as you said you need it for gaming so you can invest it on graphics card........ And to overcome from overheating problem you can use Cool N Quiet software and thermally controlled fan...

If I want to buy a Quad core right, and I do actually, I would go for the Q9550 an get a good cooler an OC it to 4Ghz. That'll be more than enough for anything in the next coupla years.
Cos if ur loaded an have money to burn, go for an I7 920.

I agree. Moreover a lot of applications do not know how to use all 4 cores. For next 2-2.25 years guard core is more then enough.
