Just out of curiosity. How do you find vista. I have seen some related threads before.
Would be great if someone can share some fresh opinions. Worth to switch form XP?

Nope! Just switch straight to Windows 7.

I have gone directly from Windows 2000 on my main machine (desktop) to Windows 7 on a machine (laptop) that was slow with XP and unstable with Vista.

And for the first time in TEN years there is a Windows OS that I would recommend anyone to use.

Don't switch to XP although it's good compare to Vista, its better to switch on the Windows 7, more advanced features and when it comes to speed and reliability, it does a great work.

I regret going from xp to vista and then to 7, vista was a waste of money, go with 7, no more headaches

I never recommend Vista Basics, use Vista Premium.

Many thanks. Just out of curiously: are you using windows7? Is it worth to switch now or worth to wait little bit?

Yes, Yes and not really.

Windows 7 has been stable and usable since RC1 in May 2009, the machine I'm using has had Win7 on since June 2009, it's used every day, sometimes it doesn't get powered down for 5 or 6 days at a stretch, In that time I have not had a single OS crash and no resource problems. Some old applications have hung occasionally but nothing majorly frustrating.
In fact even the anti-virus (Avast) hasn't required a reboot when it has updated.

Hi Friend,

Well, last month I have installed Windows Vista and I am very much satisfied with its performance as it is very user friendly with simple tools and good graphics.

Thanks
James

Thanks for your short review.

If you still use XP, go with Win7 and skip Vista to avoid big headaches

To me, it looks as though Windows Xp is still the best choice for an operating system. Sure the others look nicer, but in terms of performance I think Xp is the one to go with on average. Yes Vista and 7 have DirectX 10, but how much of a difference does that really make? Vista and 7 have Aero, but again that just makes things look nice, they’re nice tweaks and little improvements to usability but in terms of performance it doesn’t do much except maybe hinder it.

I've not found any as yet, but I have only been using it for nine months.

I found one of possible bugs with Win7 on my laptop. When it uses the battery (and laptop is not being charged), the screen is flickering a little. It never happened with XP or Vista

I am using Vista ultimate and satisfied with that but Windows 7 definitely has no match.

There's no reason to go with Vista now that Windows 7 is available. That being said I never really had any problems with Vista, although the resource usage was higher than XP and Windows 7. In fact there are some things I like better in Vista than Windows 7, the gadget bar being one of them.
