Hi,

For some reason, when browsing files in Vista, the default icon for PHP pages is showing as the notepad.exe icon.

Now I know this is only a small thing... But it's driving me insane!

I want my DreamWeaver icon back!!!

Any advise please!

Meanwhile back at Windows 95
Possibly the ShellIconCache.db is corrupt or locked.

bring up the Start menu
Right click on "Command Prompt" -> Run as Administrator...
THEN Shutdown the Explorer Process from the Task Manager

In the CMD window:

Navigate to C:\Users\<ProfileName>\AppData\Local
and type in
attrib -H IconCache.db <enter>
del IconCache.db <enter>
start explorer <enter>
exit <enter>

I can't seem to find "Command Prompt" in the start menu?
Do you mean type cmd in the "start search" bar?

Hi friend,

As far as I know Windows Vista operating system comes with a set of default icons for different programs and program types. You may change it by accessing the icon modification properties.

Here I describes how to change default icons.

Right-click on your desktop and press "Personalize" from the context menu.

Click on "Change Desktop Icons" from the pane on the left.

Select the Vista icon you wish to change and then press the "Change Icon" button.

Choose the icon you wish to use and press "OK," "Apply," and "OK" to save your changes and exit.

Thanks,
James

If you set hidden files on and uncheck "hide protected operating system file" in Tools -> Folder Options can you see the file in windows explorer?
