Please suggest me which is the best DVD writer with maximum speed and which will not get slow after some years as my current one 'LG'

They all "slow down" after "some years"

Laser diodes do not have an infinite life span, they will fail at some point depending on their quality and operating conditions.

Give a try to samsung but as chrishirst said, you can't find one which won't go down in future. These kind of Machines should not be expected to work longer.

they only £20 max for a good one, will work for long time and when stop working you can get same one for £5 max...
I got asus for 2 years now and still working perfect, got it for £22 or something like that...

Yeah, I always get a cheap one, as I break them about every 6-12 month because leave the door open and rest my foot on it or similar.

I like to use a Standard DVD drive to rip DVD's, I am currently using an Asus E616P2 (ATA 100) as my rip drive.

Recently I have heard about some of the DVD players can als run the DVDs which have scratches, then why this technology is not applied to PC DVD writers also.

Loosing the odd bit (as in binary digit) doesn't matter so much for movies or music, but for data or programs it could be disasterous.

I have tried many DVD writers including Lite-on, Sony, LG and currently I am using Samsung.. I think they all are good.

i suggest Liteon or LG. dont buy sony or HP they can't read even if the disk have a small scratch

Hey All,
As far as I know Asus DRW-0804P is a DVD writer that has the capability of burning both DVD+R and DVD-R media at a maximum speed of 8X.

I use a dual-layer LG w/Lightscribe and have had no issues after a few years already.

According to me Samsung and Sony are the best DVD writers available in the market. These are the good DVD writer and they may not get slow after using them some years.

Currently using Plextor 755, a LG H20-L blu-ray which replaced a nice Samsung. I tend to shy away from Lite-on. Altho I did buy a internal Lite-on DVD writer to replace the defunk lite-on drive in a stand-a-lone lite-on 5005 DVD Recorder. Had to mod the case sligthly, but works fine...
