Oh god...
You mean that you want to show people how outdated an low specs hardware on a low uplink connection can be prone to crashes and timeout, right?

Good then, because you are just on the right track.

Please dont even entertain your idea this way.

If you MUST do it, please buy a dedicated server form someone else or it may just be better to re-sell hosting or even white-label some hosting.

Running any kind of server from home just isnt acceptable nowadays, This is something people did many moons ago.

What if someone bought your product and your PC died?
What happens if your haddrive dies? ( Do everyone loose their data? )
What happens if your only slow internet connection dies?
.....
..

Your entering a HIGHLY competitive market with a very bad setup.

You see Lynxus, that's what I was talking about when we talked about "decent sysdamins".

Hi Friend,
First of all you have to choose a server which is on a good internet connection and has a good bandwidth limits too.

Thanks,
James

If you're serious about setting up a dedicated server at home for... Temporary purposes... Then I need to know more. What operating system do you use? Are you willing to change operating system? (Ubuntu Server Edition). Are you willing to learn how to run a computer with just command-line/SSH access? Are you willing to backup thousands of MB's of data a day? Does your ISP allow this? (They will shut you off if they don't allow it). Do you have enough download/upload bandwidth on your internet connection to handle a webserver?

You're taking up a monster of a task, and a big responsibility. Only some make it as sysadmins.
