There are enough ports and software out there to program anything from a windows or a linux, mac on the other hand has more of a graphic design focus rather than codemonekying so it's a bit different.

I have used Windows most of my life, and while I have experience with both OS X and Linux, I've never used them for full time software development. The work is primarily web coding and will include:

1. Eclipse as the IDE
2. Java
3. Struts
4. Servlets
5. JSP

I am a die hard windows fan but linux takes the prize when it comes to programming. Try the linux ultimate edition if you are new to linux. everything is already preinstalled, it should give you an easy task when you are learning the ropes

its depends on u .......that which operating system is compatible with ur system and from which u r comfortable to use......all operating systems are good for prgraming..

I am a programmer of dotnet and have VisualStudio and SQL Server installed with windows XP and I never got any problem with this.

The OS and the language is immaterial, when learning programming it is the concepts that are important. The same concepts apply regardless of if you are writing a program for Windows, Linux, OS X, etc. Languages are the same between different platforms, the only thing that can be different is the OS API. Those differences are abstracted away in scripting languages like Perl or Python.

It depends on the individual which programming they want to go. If you want to go with the convenient traffic and then my windows will be fine.

Win XP is the best for me , i love it .
