Since two years, my website has been enjoying PR3. However, I am dealing within the canonical issue with its URL. I had opted for .htaccess 301 redirection. However, my website is hosted in a windows server due to which I am unable to perform 301 redirection. When I asked my friend about any other medium to have www URL from non-www URL, he suggested that I should move from windows to Linux to solve this problem. I do not know if he bluffed or he actually meant it. So, here I am with my query. Will this shift help me and my site? I am looking for a solution from the SEO perspective.

Probably not, but it may cause some major headaches on case sensitivity.

And who says you can't do "canonical" redirects on Windows servers, because that sounds like the usual crap spouted by the clueless "experts".

It only takes a few lines of code on each page and there are ways it can be done via IIS.
