A lot of windows users are put off linux as they think it is too complicated with long words like kernel and other rubbish like that, linux users like to use words nobody else in the world understands, now I generally run both windows and linux on my pcs, the difficult bit is some switcher thing so you can change between operating systems, never understood that bit but there has always been a switcher on each pc I have set up so no idea what all that rubbish is about.
Anyway if you can set up a gmail or hotmail account you can now run Ubuntu, I just done this pc today, just go here http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download and have a look, all I done was use the windows installer, ie click and download that, open it, choose a name and password and then it downloads ubuntu, install, reboot and your up and running, you also have the choice of burning a cd to install it or sticking it in a usb, with the windows installer it leaves all your windows stuff alone and installs itself in a spare bit of hard disk, now when I boot up I can choose which I want, ie windows or ubuntu.
