Can anybody explain the difference between IE7 and IE8. why some web pages are supported by IE7 but not by IE8.

Hello Friend,
IE8 will not perform the same as IE7 compatibility mode. IE7 compatibility mode does not perform the same as IE7. The differences are their poor handling of CSS, as well as being far behind IE8 with other standards (which is very poor in IE8, too).

I was wondering if there is a listing on the internet of all major differences a developer should know between the versions. I've searched Google a bit but haven't found a satisfactory listing. There is not much difference between IE 7 and IE 8.

I believe if you visit Microsoft official web site you will be able to find information about all differences there.

IE 7 is designed for Windows Vista while IE8 is just designed for Windows 7.
As the latest browser created by Microsoft, there are still many web pages that can't support IE 8.

I don't the difference but IE-8 is not supporting for all softwares or add-ons

Honestly i don't see any difference for the IE7 and IE8 but i think IE8 works faster on my pc.

the difference is... IE7 is better

Firefox is great but I don't know why some websites have problem on it.
