For some strange reason, image thumbnails are not show in Vista, just the icons... (JPG, PSD etc)

Also, my folder are opening in a new window instead of themselves...


I have tried all the obvious things like making sure the folder option for only showing icons is not checked...

Any ideas?

Hello Friend,
Right click on my computer>properties>in left pan click advanced system settings>advanced>in performance click settings>check "show thumbnails instead of icons" that should work.

You can try following these steps.

To open folder in same window:
-Go to control panel
-Go to Folder options
-In Folder options under General, tick on Open each folder in the same window

To view thumbnails:
-Right click on an empty space in the folder you want to view the icon as thumbnails
-Click View
-Then click Large icons

Nope - still not working...

The same thing happens in Windows 7 occasionally.

I just changing the options (apply) then set them back to what they were usually works for me

Try Restore point an go back to a stage when everything was perfect.

Restore points are limited to after all this happened unfortunately...

I can live with the thumbnail thing I suppose, and I'm just using:

>Right Click > Explore to navigate folders to cure that one.

**SOLVED!**

OK, finally solved this - It looks like it was IE8 causing the problem, as after installing that, I started getting the 2 issues.

Installed IE9 BETA this morning and hey presto!

All thumbnails now showing and folders are opening as they should.
