my toshiba external hard drive is unaccessable and says parameter is incorrect. and causes "my computer" to become "nonresponding". what can i do to fix the problem?

Might we inquire as to *how* this came to be?

If "parameter incorrect" occurs on a lot of discs, it's often the laser head is misaligned or the lens is damaged / dirty. I've seen it happen when people have used the so-called "CD Cleaners" which usually do more damage than good.

You can make less of a mess by taking the cover off and using a cotton bud dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
