Is there a way that I can quickly bring up personal access information on my PC - say from a text file - that will not be vulnerable to a phishing attack? I probably have way too many is my problem!

Mine are in a Open Office spread sheet, password protected and NOT called passwords.

And "phishing" attempts are not looking on your hard drive for files, which of course CANNOT be done by website code.


"Phishing" is done by you being dumb enough to put your details into a fake login page.
Or by being stupid enough to think that somebody died in [insert country] and left untold millions just waiting to spirited out of an account and into yours.

A password protected offline file sounds like a good idea Chris. But then are the HD files safe if nobody has access to my PC?

More passwords and other details are stolen by people having direct access to machines than are stolen trojans or keystroke loggers.

For a website to "steal" information off the HD it would have to "plant" an application that could run in the context of the logged in user.
Browsers run in a "excusion zone" where only limited access to certain folders is allowed (cookies, cache etc.)
