Ermmm?

What exactly is your question?
Reduce the file size of individual cookies?

Reduce the space they occupy on the hard drive?

Reduce the packet size for transfer betwen client and server?

reduce the amount of data held in the cookie?

or something else?

Or what browser are you using? In Firefox, click on tools, click on options and click on privacy, although I am not sure if this is what you are asking. Like Chris mentioned, maybe be more specific.

Actually it's Amazon interview question...
I guess the question might related to "reducing the size of data held in cookie"
(that's what reducing the size of cookie means!!)

And the answer to that is so obvious (assuming you know or can influence what server resources are available) that it would be an injustice for you to pass the interview using our knowledge.

I am preparing for the interview and I was studying previous year questions...
The knowledge is for everyone, not just for a group of people...and if you don't know the answer, please leave my request...

I already know a solution to the "problem" and if you were good enough as a developer it should be obvious to you too.

What are you going to do if an equally basic question on a different topic arises during the interview, where the answer does not come to mind instantly?
Are you going to:

"Ask the audience" or "phone a friend"

Real life (and interviews) do not have "lifelines" and interview questions are there to "weed out" unsuitable candidates.

So, if you cannot work out the the answer to, "How would you reduce the size of the cookies in browser?" is "Reduce the amount of data stored in the cookie" and from that evaluate a method of doing so, you are an "unsuitable candidate" for a developer post with Amazon.

you know the answer and you won't tell others and mock the others!! Is that ur policy? I should shut my mouth and go, is that you want? what a personality huh? I just asked one question(not a bundle of questions!), I didn't ask for your justification that

It's quite simple, you do NOT know how to accomplish the task, that means you are NOT capable of doing the job according to Amazon's criteria.
I am not considering applying for a job at Amazon therefore it is irrelevant that I know the answer, YOU do not know and me telling you the answer will NOT make you suitable for the job, it will only mean that some one else knew the solution. It will not mean that you could actually do the job.
Let's say that somebody gives you the answer and you pass the interviews and get the job, how quickly would you be out of your "comfort zone" and dismissed from the job?

What would you prefer on your CV?
Nothing at all about failing an interview with Amazon, or being dismissed after six months??

An interview is a test of YOUR skils and YOUR thought processes, it is NOT a test of how you are able to get help from forums or tutorials. It is testing if you KNOW something and in this case you do not.

"Others" do NOT need the solution, only YOU are considering taking the interview. It is NOT a general coding question. It is SPECIFIC to a job interview.

AND I would be willing to bet that over SEVENTY FIVE percent of the developers here already KNOW the answer.

Ok, chrishirst just leave my question.....I will find out myself...I am not an experienced developer, just a student..
If this is the case, then what is the need of posting questions in forums? or what kind of questions I can ask for? Why are you flaming??????????

Again I am telling, I didn't ask for your justification..and you are not one among them to judge me..

Then why there are no responses to the thread yet..?

Probably because they will feel EXACTLY the same as I do about people who try to CHEAT their way through exams, coursework and/or interview questions.

If you are a "junior developer" you are NOT experienced for the job you are preparing to apply for, and you have proven that by asking a question a first year web developer would know

I am not judging YOU! I am questioning your judgement in considering applying for a job that you are NOT suitable for.

I have had the misfortune of working alongside (supposedly) programmers/developers who have "blagged" their way into a job which they could not actually do.

Oh and it could be the fact that you asked the question in the "computer" board RATHER than one of the CODING boards
